Sundance 2024 in tucson

In 2021, the Sundance Film Festival launched its streaming option in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, instead of humping out to Park City, UT, you can enjoy the indie master fest from the comfort of your own home…or Aiden Fishbein’s Filmhaus ;-)

I will host the Sundance “Winners’ Weekend” and show eight films in two days at my home theater in ever-so-temperate Tucson, AZ. I’ll open my doors at 10:30 a.m. on 1/27/24 and close them at 3:30 p.m. on 1/28/24. For all hours in between folks are welcome to pop in, sit down, and feast on films with friends.

How Winners’ Weekend Works

The various competitions at the festival will all be finalized in time for the Sundance “Winners’ Weekend” where they will re-run all the winners. The original showcase is massive, and even the list of winners will be far too large to consume fully, so we must pick our eight favorite films. Being your hip-ass host, I may curate the films myself. However, I would LOVE to share this responsibility with any other cinephiles in attendance.

FAQ:

• Where should I park? We own the empty lot next door. Park there.

• Will there be grub? Snackables will be provided for both days. Meals will likely be democratically coordinated by folks in attendance when hunger coalesces.

• Can I get wasted? BYOB and smokables if you partake. No heroin allowed.

• If I can only come for 4 hours, when should I target? Arrive in time for the 4:00 pm shorts on Saturday and stay through the U.S. Dramatic Comp winner and dinner.
